I love how this painting makes me feel. I feel the sand under my toes, hear the gulls, feel the air growing cooler, smell the ocean and hear the waves. It makes me peaceful. Here’s how it came to be: we went to a RAW event in Vancouver in July 2016. Many skilled artists and artisans had their work on display. We encountered this Artist, Graham Watts. He has a gift for cityscapes with all of them so familiar to those who love Vancouver. But when I saw “Twilight Lighthouse Park” I was transfixed; it was as if he had painted it for me. My husband said “this is our view!”. We have been walking, cycling, and picnicking at Spanish Bank for decades, and this is our special place. We count the freighters every time to see if we can beat our record of 17, we gaze at the lighthouse and the mountains behind, listen to the ocean. It is one of our most favourite places in Vancouver. The artist has captured this, and with it, the feelings and sensations. I couldn’t help returning to look at it again and again. It was meant to be and I am very grateful my husband said “would you like me to buy it for you?” YES I WOULD! We love this painting and are very happy to have it in our home.
